Indian Premier League provides the perfect stage for young cricketers to showcase their talent and potential, and if they are able to do so, the national call is not too far. While Mumbai Indians are having the worst season after losing eight successive games in the tournament, they have opted for Kumar Kartikeya Singh as a replacement for injured Mohd Arshad Khan for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.
The Mumbai franchise picked Md. Arshad Khan at the IPL auctions for a base price of INR 20 Lakh, but recently the left-arm pacer sustained the injury during a practice session due to which he will miss out on the remainder of the tournament. Kumar Kartikeya Singh has been with the Mumbai Indians as part of the support team and has now signed on to join the squad for the 2022 season.
Singh, who is a slow left-arm bowler, has represented Madhya Pradesh across all three formats of the game after making his debut in 2018. As per the statement released by Mumbai Indians, "Kartikeya has been impressive in the nets, and his learning trajectory on improving and fine-tuning his bowling skills has earned him the call up to the main squad."
