McLaren F1 driver Lando Norris will don a special basketball-inspired helmet for the upcoming Miami Grand Prix. The 22-year-old took inspiration from Miami’s basketball culture and the city’s premier NBA franchise, Miami Heat.

While talking about this special helmet Norris said, “I saw some people playing basketball one time, and I thought, damn, that’d make for a cool helmet. So I did it. It has some cool details on it, like my signature, my logo and my name in black with a nice neon outline.”

In one of the pre-race press conferences, Lando Norris expressed his excitement for the Miami Grand Prix especially after registering a surprise podium at Imola. The Brit driver was pushing hard at the fourth place towards the end of the race when Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc spun out of track.

“I’m hyped for this weekend”

Norris said, “I’m riding in on the high of the last race and hoping to keep the momentum going forward. Whilst the podium finish wasn’t exactly expected, it’s a testament to the hard work and determination of the team at the track and back at the factory. Let’s keep going and push as hard as we can!”

“I’m hyped for this weekend. New circuits are always something I look forward to, and when you add in the excitement around a US race, particularly in Miami, it’s going to be so cool. It’s looking fast with some great features and with the added element of being a street track, it’s going to be a fun challenge,” he continued.

“I'm part of this journey we're all on”

He also talked about racing with his childhood favourite team and addressed his goals of winning titles. Norris said, “I have grown up in this team and I'm part of this journey we're all on. I want to continue to try to reach that dream of ours and try to win races, and of course to try and win championships.”
