Former Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has been going through a rough patch. Kohli, one of the finest all-format batter in modern cricket, has been struggling with the bat for almost 3 years. The 33-year-old has been craving for a single century since 2019, and many cricket experts have started raising questions over his inclusion in the squad.

Despite Kohli's below per performance, former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra has backed the Indian batter and claimed that former Indian skipper must get some more chances due to his performance in the past.

"There will be discussions even if you are not a player of Kohli's caliber. When you are playing you try to focus on your game and not listen to so-called 'outside voices' from people outside the dressing room. Backing from the teammates, management and selectors is very vital, and that is one of the things which inspires cricketers to get back their form," Nehra was quoted as saying.

Nehra further stated that player like Virat Kohli must get extra chances. "What he has done for Indian cricket is not common. Yes, its not written anywhere that he will keep playing for India even if he does not score runs. But when you have done so much in the past, you will always get extra chances," Nehra added.

"Lets hope we see a different Virat after the West Indies series. If he rests for a month or five odd weeks, it will be helpful for him," Nehra concluded.

Kohli, failed to produce a big knock in the fifth Test match against England as he could only score 11 and 20 runs in both the innings of the rescheduled Test match. Virat's poor form continued in the white-ball series as he could only made valuable contribution in the second and third T20Is.
