Seven-times Formula 1 Champion Lewis Hamilton faced a huge disappointment at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December last year. Such was his defeat that rumors about Hamilton quitting F1 started doing rounds. The speculations became rife when Lewis quit social media after the loss. Everyone was wondering if they will be able to see Hamilton back on track or not.

Well, the answer is pretty much out now. The man himself has put an end to all the speculations through a social media post. Hamilton shared a post on his Twitter and Instagram and announced that 'he is back'. He posted a picture of himself and wrote "I've been gone. Now I am back" in the caption.

What had happened?

Lewis Hamilton was barred from lifting his eighth F1 title when Red Bull driver Max Verstappen pipped him in the last lap at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. However, it was not a normal defeat as the winner was decided in a final lap shoot-out. Hamilton was cruising to the title until the aftermath of a crash elsewhere on the track which led to the final lap shoot-out between him and Max Verstappen.

The British star was left behind by Verstappen who was driving on fresh tires in the most dramatic way. Hamilton was left in shock and so was the Mercedes team principal Totto Wolf. It was Wolf who has hinted that Hamilton might walk away when he had said his driver was "disillusioned".

FIA inquiry to be made public in March

The result raised eyebrows around the globe and Race director Michael Masi received criticism for allowing the one-lap finish. An FIA inquiry was also set up and reports suggest that the outcomes of it won't be made public until the eve of the 2022 season opener in Bahrain in March.

Nonetheless, with all this happened, it's good to see Lewis Hamilton back and his fans will be itching to have a glimpse of him. There is a good chance that they will get to see Hamilton soon when Mercedes launch its first car of F1's revamped technical era at Silverstone on February 18.
