Lionel Messi is on the verge of signing for Paris Saint-Germain as he has reportedly reached a total agreement with the French giants. Football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the six-time Ballon d’Or winner will sign a two-years contract, with an option to extend until June 2024. Several media reports have also confirmed the news.

It has also been learnt that Messi will arrive in Paris within a few hours to officially sign with PSG. According to reports, Messi will wear the number 30 jersey. Neymar offered the coveted number ten shirt to Lionel Messi but Messi declined. Leo Messi’s father Jorge Messi also confirmed the latest developments. He said to La Sexta, “Yes, Leo’s gonna sign with Paris Saint-Germain today.”

The Argentina international had spoken directly with PSG head coach Mauricio Pochettino about moving to the French capital. Notably, Messi will receive €25m net per season as guaranteed salary plus add ons. The Argentine's potential total salary will be around €35m per season.

Messi to have medical on Monday: Reports

According to reports in French media, the former Barcelona captain will reach Paris for his medical on Monday with his unveiling set for Tuesday, August 10. The reports further added that PSG have booked the Eiffel Tower for Messi’s unveiling, as PSG had done for Neymar Jr in 2017. Neymar had joined PSG from Barcelona in 2017 for a record transfer fee of €222m.

Last week, Barcelona had announced that Messi would not continue at the club after they were unable to fulfill a new contract that had been agreed with the player due to "financial and structural obstacles".
