Lionel Messi is a huge name in world football. The star Argentine has not only ruled the football ground with his jaw-dropping skills, talent, and hard work but has even ruled the hearts of fans around the globe. Consequently, Messi has had to oblige with several kinds of requests from his fans. Whether it is posing for selfies or signing autographs, the 34-year-old does take time to return in his small way the love showered on him around the world.

Not much earlier, Messi even video-called an old fan who had chronicled each and every one of his goals scored in his professional career. But even the Paris Saint-Germain forward would have been surprised at the kind of request that came his away in a recent incident.

It all happened at Argentina's national football team's training camp in Ezeiza, Buenos Aires. An 11-year-old was not only there to catch a glimpse of his favourite football star, he even had a message written for the six-time Ballon d'Or winner. The young fan asked for Messi's forgiveness as he had been named after his rival football star Cristiano Ronaldo.

"Messi, forgive my mother, she didn't know what she was doing, SHE CALLED ME CRISTIANO," it read in Spanish.

Here is the picture:

As per a report carried by TyC Sports, the young Argentine called Cristiano happens to be a youth player at Racing Club Academy. While he has grown up to love Messi, his mother had named her son after another contemporary football legend Cristiano Ronaldo.

Due to the strict COVID-19 guidelines in place, Messi was not able to spend some time and interact with this fan. However, he has always thanked fans for their support and became emotional when he played the first game in Argentina after leading the country to Copa America win earlier in the year.

As far as Cristiano Ronaldo is concerned, personally, he is having a great time scoring goals but he wants his club Manchester United to be more consistent as the Red Devils try and end their recent drought of Premier League and Champions League trophies.
