2023 is set to be a historic year for Women’s cricket with the start of the Women’s Indian Premier League which is likely t o be played from March 3 to 26.  The WIPL will include five teams, who will lock horns in a total of 22 matches. Each franchise can have up to 18 players, with a maximum of six overseas players. Talking about the playing XI, each team can include five overseas players (four from Full Member countries and one from an Associate nation).

The league stage of the WIPL will see teams play each other twice (a total of 20 matches). Then the number one-placed team will progress straight to the final. While the teams that finish second and third in the league will play an Eliminator to determine the second finalist.
