Indian women’s hockey team delivered clinical performance against lower-ranked Canada 3-2 in its do-or-die Pool A game to qualify for the semifinals of the Commonwealth Games on Wednesday. India took early lead in the game on the back of Salima Tete (3rd minute) and Navneent Kaur (22nd minute).
However, Canadian too fought hard as they soon levelled the score through goals from Brienne Stairs (23rd minute) and Haannah Haughn (39th). But, Lalremsiami Hmarzote’s converted a penalty into successful goal which provided much-needed lead in the game to ensure semi-final berth.
