The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) on Saturday announced the launch of a brand new T20 league, Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 in the presence of the President and Secretary of the cricket association. The new T20 tournament is named in the memory of the HRH late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, the former President of KSCA and Maharaja of Mysore.

The coveted trophy and logo for the T20 tournament was unveiled at the Chinnaswamy Stadium with Roger Binny, President KSCA, Santosh Menon, Secretary KSCA and Vinay Mruthyunjaya, Treasurer of KSCA present at the event. Binny also spoke on the occasion and said that the tournament has been launched with an aim to provide the cricketers in the state with the right platform to perform and be ready for the next big leap in their cricketing careers.

"With an aim to continue to provide our cricketers with the right platform to perform and be ready for the next big leap in their cricketing career, we have decided to roll out the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20," said Binny, the former India all-rounder and a member of the 1983 Men's Cricket World Cup winning team.

Now, with the state gearing up for a brand new T20 league, here is everything you need to know about it.

When will the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 take place?

The inaugural edition of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 will take place between 7 and 22 August.

How many teams will take part in the T20 league?

As many as six teams representing cities like Bengaluru, Mysore, Hubli, Shivamogga, Raichur and Mangalore vie for top honours in the inaugural edition of the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 league.

Which cricketers will be eligible to take part in the league?

All the top cricketers within the age bracket of 35 years will be eligible to take part in the tournament. Karnataka's top cricketers like Mayank Agarwal, Devdutt Padikkal, Shreyas Gopal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Manish Pandey, Jagadeesha Suchith, Karun Nair, Abhinav Manohar, KC Cariappa, Pravin Dubey and Abhimanyu Mithun are expected to feature in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20.

What will be the venues?

The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 will commence on August 7 in Mysore with the first leg of matches being held at the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Ground in Mysore. Post that, a total of 16 matches including the final being held in Bengaluru at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
