From the Bryan brothers to the Williams sisters, the sport of tennis has seen some of the most amazing pairings over the years. However, India's dynamic duo of Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes were also a force to reckon with in doubles' as they won so many titles together in tournaments across the globe. Taking about Grand Slams, they won 3 titles together claiming victories in Wimbledon (1999) and French Open (1999 & 2001).

Paes-Bhupathi won Wimbledon title 22 years back

Today (July 4) marks the 22-year anniversary of the duo's historic Wimbledon win in 1999. Bhupathi and Paes defeated Paul Haarhuis and Jared Palmer 6-7(10), 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(4) in the finals to become the first Indians to win a title in Wimbledon. Leander Paes posted a photo on his Twitter account remembering the incredible feat.

However, it was Mahesh Bhupathi's comment that caught everyone's attention. In response to Paes' tweet, the 47-year-old said, "Do you think it's time to write another chapter?" while using the hashtag of the duo #LeeHesh. Paes also had a hilarious response to the same as he asked, "How's your back hand feeling," probably hinting towards the fact that both of them are not that young anymore.

What's the plan: Paes asks Bhupathi

However, Paes was in no mood to absolutely rule out the possibility of what could be one of the most dramatic returns in history of sport. The 48-year-old tweeted that he is ready to re-write another chapter with Mahesh Bhupathi and asked him for the plan of action.

While it is very unlikely that the duo will return, one thing is for sure that despite a few fights between them over the years, there is no love lost and fans are absolutely loving the amazing banter of the duo.
