The Test series between India versus South Africa displayed the longest format at its best. India faced an embarrassing defeat against hosts, who were once lagging behind in the series after losing the first Test, but came back brilliantly to shock the visitors.

All the three-Test matches saw several dramas unfolding on the field, with players from both sides hitting back at one another throughout the action. Tempers flared particularly during the second Test of the series in Johannesburg. During the second Test match in Johannesburg, Marco Janson and Bumrah, who played for the same franchise, Mumbai Indians in IPL, were involved in a heated altercation. Jansen reciprocated Bumrah's short balls with bouncers at him before both got involved in a heated exchange during the second innings at Johannesburg. Bumrah reacted with a stare after dismissing SA pacer in the first innings of the third Test.

Responding to the incident, Ashwell Prince, former South African skipper and batsman, was highly impressed with the South African bowler and praised for keeping South Africa cricket on priority and not letting his IPL relations come on the way. His tweet read, "One more thing I particularly enjoyed during #SAvIND series, the fact that #MarcoJansen didn’t back down once in the battle with Bumrah! He didn’t think about the IPL and how it might affect his relationships with people there. He put his country 1st, the way it should be."

Adding further, his another tweet read, "Well done kid, don’t ever change. You be you and if people can’t respect you for being you, being competitive, putting your country 1st. That’s their problem. Sport is about competing, not giving an inch and upholding the spirit of the game. Not about bank balances. #lesson2youth."

Speaking about IPL

Jasprit Bumrah has been retained by Mumbai Indians alongside skipper Rohit Sharma for the upcoming season. Whereas, Marco Janson was bought by the same franchise in the year 2021 for the base price of Rs. 20 Lakh and only played two matches for the franchise, while taking 2-wickets in overall 6 overs which he got to bowl.
