The Indian Premier League brings joy to the homes and families of several players around the world. But for many others, a closed-door at the Indian Premier League (IPL) means they are nearing the end of their cricketing career. Many such cases were present even in this year's auction. Suresh Raina, who retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, went unsold in the IPL Auction.

In addition, veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra also went unsold in the auctions. And as Raina has been one of the greats of the tournament, so has been Mishra. In 154 IPL matches, Mishra has scalped 166 wickets. His best figures in an IPL game stand at 5/17 with an overall economy and average of 7.35 and 23.95 respectively.

Moments after the IPL 2022 Auction concluded, Parth Jindal, the owner of the Delhi team which Mishra served for a long time, penned a heartfelt note for the veteran bowler.

"To one of the @IPL greats @MishiAmit we @DelhiCapitals would like to salute everything you have done for us over all these years and would love to have you back at DC in whatever capacity you see fit as your insights would be most valuable. Mishy bhai DC is yours for life," he wrote.

Even Mishra responded to the message by writing: "Thanks @ParthJindal11 for the kind words & your acknowledgment of my services for the team. I am truly humbled! But, I am not finished yet and can easily add to the legacy of @DelhiCapitals…only if DC needs me! I am always in their corner. #ibleedDC."

As far as Delhi are concerned, they would be content with the squad they have managed to stitch at the auctions ahead of the season. Not only have they roped in David Warner for Rs 6.25 crore, Shardul Thakur is their most expensive purchase at Rs 10.75 crore. They had already retained Rishabh Pant and Prithvi Shaw along with Axar Patel which make them a formidable-looking unit.
