Delhi Capitals received their maiden defeat in the 15th edition of Indian Premier League by debutant Gujarat Titans on Saturday by 14 runs. In a nail-biting thriller, the Capitals bundled out at 157 in 20 overs in front of a lethal bowling attack from Lockie Ferguson and Mohammed Shami. New Zealand bowler picked four wickets in the game, while Shami picked two crucial ones to derail the Capitals’ chase.

Amidst this, Delhi Capitals' head coach Ricky Ponting has given an update on Mitchell Marsh, who is completing quarantine in Mumbai.

The DC head coach is “hopeful” that the Australian all-rounder will be available for the KKR match on April 10th. While speaking to the media, Ponting said, “We are hoping that he (Marsh) will be available for the game on 10th April against Kolkata Knight Riders.”

Additionally, Ponting also informed that he is expecting to get clearance from Cricket South Africa for Anrich Nortje as he is bowling at his full capacity in the warm-ups. “I think he has to get through another maybe four or five-over spell at 100% capacity, and then I think if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be right to go.”

Ponting also believes the inclusion of David Warner, who joined DC camp in Mumbai on Saturday after the Pakistan tour, will take the field in the game against Lucknow Super Giants.

Notably, all three players missed their first two games for various reasons. While Marsh suffered an injury in Pakistan and missed the white-ball series against Pakistan, Nortje’s back and hip injury has kept him away from any competitive cricket since November last year.

However, Warner was participating in a bilateral series against Pakistan, due to which he was not allowed to leave the tour midway and join his IPL franchise. As Australia lost the three-match ODI series against Pakistan 2-1 on Saturday, Warner immediately flew to Mumbai and will surely take the field against Lucknow Super Giants.
