If cricket is a religion in India, Sachin Tendulkar is God. Millions of people from across generations have looked up to the great man for his excellence on the cricket field and more than that for how gracefully he handled the pressure of so many people for a career spanning over two decades.

On Tendulkar's 49th birth anniversary, his former India teammate Mohammad Kaif has proposed April 24 be observed as National Cricket Day. He said that he has never seen anyone so madly in love with the game as the cricketing legend. He highlighted that today when cricket is loved so much by the nation and its people, a lot of credit goes to Tendulkar.

"How about declaring April 24 as National Cricket Day. I have never seen anybody so madly in love with the game like Sachin Paaji. Happy Birthday to the man who played a big role in India's amar prem with cricket. ⁦@sachin_rt," Kaif tweeted.

Here is his post:

Tendulkar is currently with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL as their mentor. With the franchise taking on Lucknow Super Giants at the Wankhede Stadium later this evening, one could expect some amazing visuals with people from his own city cheering for him in the stadium.

More importantly, it would be interesting to see if Tendulkar's birthday luck helps the Rohit Sharma-led team register a win in IPL 2022. The team has got off to the worst start in IPL history, having lost each of their first seven matches and only a miracle gives them a slight hope of advancing to the next stage of the competition.
