The Day 2 of fourth Test between India and England has proven to be quite an exciting affair on Friday. England are currently on top on the back of a brilliant 81-run knock by Ollie Pope on his return. However, India have kept themselves in the game by taking wickets at regular intervals. On a day when the wicket has been good for batting, Virat Kohli's side have certainly missed one of their strike bowlers in form of Mohammed Shami.

The right-arm pacer has been one of the most impressive bowlers for India in this series so far and his absence was certainly missed at The Oval when Jonny Bairstow and Ollie Pope scored runs for fun. Shami had to unfortunately miss the 4th Test due to a niggle, which also denied him an opportunity to play for India on his birthday.

Shami celebrates birthday with his fans

Yes, Shami is celebrating his 31st birthday on Friday, September 3. Although he would have loved to enjoy dismissing a few English batsmen on this special occasion, he had to be content by sitting in the dressing room and watch his teammates grind it out at The Oval.

But despite the disappointment of missing out, the Indian fans wanted to make their star bowler feel special on his birthday. A section of fans were seen wearing 'Happy Birthday Shami' t-shirts in the stands and also had a cake with them.

The Indian fast-bowler was quick to acknowledge the love and gesture by his fans as he went on to cut the cake while walking behind the boundary ropes. It was a brilliant moment for both the crowd and the player as everyone enjoyed this beautiful moment at The Oval.

As expected, Shami did not eat the cake as the on-air commentators also hilariously pointed out that the 31-year-old can't afford to consume so many calories.
