Newly appointed CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja believes MS Dhoni will forever be his go-to person and claimed that the former skipper had left a huge legacy to fill in. Notably, CSK released a statement on Thursday, announcing Dhoni's decision to step down from leadership role and confirmed that Jadeja would be the new captain for the upcoming season. Defending champions Chennai Super Kings are all set to lock horns with KKR in the season's opener on March 26 at Wankhede.

CSK's statement also clarified that Dhoni will continue to be part of Playing XI and will be the 'guiding force' for other players. In a brief statement, CSK said that 40-year old will represent the franchise for the "season and beyond." Dhoni, 40, who decided to retire from international cricket on August 15, 2020, led CSK to their fourth title last season.

Post-announcement, CSK CEO was reportedly quoted saying that Jadeja was already alerted about the decision.

"See whatever decision MS takes it is in the team's best interest. So there is nothing to worry about for us. We respect his decision. He is always there to guide us," Viswanathan told PTI. "He has always been the guiding force and will continue to be."

Asked if the 2022 edition could be his last season, the CEO added, "I don't think it will be his last season. As long as he is fit, we want him to play. That is my wish, I don't know about him (what he thinks)." Viswanathan said the all-rounder is primed to do well on Jadeja's ascension as captain.
