Former Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan has been admitted to a Hospital in Chennai on Sunday. The SRH spinning coach, who turned 49 on April 17, has reportedly undergone an angioplasty procedure. He has had a stent fitted to unblock an artery, and is expected to rejoin Sunrisers Hyderabad very soon.
The hospital will be giving a bulletin on the current status of Murali's health very soon. The news comes as a major shock to cricket fans all over the world. The Sri Lankan legend is one of the biggest names in the game and is the highest wicket taker in the history of Test cricket, with 800 wickets. The fans will be hoping to see SRH spinning coach back in the dugout as early as possible.
SRH CEO provides an update on Murali's health
Mr. Shanmuganathan, the CEO of the Sunrisers, reflected on the issue and assured everyone that the Sri Lankan is absolutely fine. He said, "He (Murali) had consulted doctors in Sri Lanka over blockage in his heart before coming for the IPL. He was initially told there was no need for any stents but at the Apollo Hospital here in Chennai, he was advised angioplasty. He immediately got it done. He is very much fine and he should back in the ground in a few days."
