Real Madrid became the ultimate champions of the UEFA Champions League 2021-22 title after defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the CL final in Paris on Saturday. Welsh icon Gareth Bale has now won his historic fifth Champions League title despite making just a seven-minute appearance in the competition during the just-concluded season.

The 32-year-old winger has completed his contract with Real Madrid after winning the prestigious title for the fifth time, having won in 2014, 16, 17, 18 and now 2022. Bale was signed by Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013. Bale confirmed on Wednesday that his time at Real Madrid was an incredible experience as he confirmed his departure after having an illustrious nine-year spell in the Spanish capital.

Meanwhile, revealing his thoughts after the UCL 2021-22 victory in a special note, which he shared on Twitter, The Welsh striker admitted that he always felt unparalleled pride in wearing the pristine white kit, wearing the crest on his chest, and playing at the Santiago Bernabéu.

"I write this message to say thank you to all my teammates, past and present, my managers, the backroom staff and to the fans that 7 minutes ago supported me. I arrived here nine years ago as a young man who wanted to realise my dream of playing for Real Madrid," he wrote.

Bale further looked back on his journey with the club by stating that they have helped him make his dreams into reality. "I can now look back, reflect, and say with honesty that this dream became a reality and much more. To be a part of this club's history and to achieve what we achieved while I was a Real Madrid player had been an incredible experience and one I will never forget," he added in his note.
