According to recent reports, the Narendra Modi Stadium stadium in Ahemdabad will host the final of the 2022 Indian Premier League. Reports also say that the playoffs will either be played in Lucknow or Kolkata. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to finalize its decision.
“IPL final will be played in Ahmedabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Discussions are on to decide the hosts for play-offs with a divide between Lucknow and Kolkata as options. BCCI to decide soon between the two cities. While one section believes it should be Lucknow for being the new entrant, others believe Kolkata should also get important matches,” a source told Times Now. An official statement by the BCCI and IPL Governing Council is yet to be published.
The IPL so far has been as entertaining as the past years with new players and teams creating headlines day in and day out. So far the debutants Gujarat Titans are leading the league with eights points from five matches. They defeated the 2008 champions Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs. Gujarat captain Hardik Pandya had an incredible performance as he scored 87 runs from 52 balls with eight fours and four sixes.
Whereas in the second innings, he dismissed the dangerous-looking Jimmy Neesham with a caught and bowled in the 18th over. Pandya also dismissed Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson with an incredible run-out. After the match, he talked about his injury and the team’s performance at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
