In a big update coming in from the Pakistan Super League, Quetta Gladiators batsman Andre Russell has been diagnosed with a concussion after getting hit on the helmet while batting. Although he had opted to continue immediately after the incident and got out next ball, he has not taken the field when his team's turn came to bowl. Consequently, Naseem Shah was allowed as a concussion substitute for Russell.

Notably, the West Indies all-rounder, who usually dictates terms to the bowlers, received a nasty blow on his helmet on Friday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The incident unfolded in the 14th over of the Gladiator innings. While the 33-year-old had hit Muhammad Musa for two back to back sixes, the bowler responded with a short pitch delivery which stuck him on the helmet. Musa then followed that with a slower bouncer to get rid of the danger man.

Shadab Khan not happy with Naseem being allowed as substitute: Reports

However, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan is reportedly not happy with Naseem Shah being allowed to take the field as a concussion substitute. This is because the rule allowed for a like for like replacement. But while Russell was an all-rounder, Shah happens to be a specialist bowler. Nonetheless, he has taken the field and the match has resumed with Islamabad needing 134 for victory.
