Entering the NBA 2021-22 season, major title contention franchises were active in the off-season having acquired multiple free agents and made desired trades. As a result of which there were many favorites being speculated before the start of the current season. However, as we have commenced the 75th anniversary season, hoop fans have been shocked to see that the brightest and most star-studded teams have incurred huge losses in just 7-8 games.

Be it Brooklyn Nets,  Milwaukee Bucks or the Los Angeles Lakers- all these teams have failed to make a dominant impact since the start. On the other hand, teams who have made handful of changes seem to be blossoming. So, could this be the season of the underdogs? Who knows, but looking at the form, here are the NBA 2021-22 season power ranking of the top 5 teams in the league so far.

Which team has been the most dominant in the month of October?

5. Golden State Warriors

Having played 6 games so far, the Dubs pose a record of 5-1. Topping the Western Conference along with Utah Jazz, it seems like Stephen Curry, Jordan Poole and Draymond Green have brought their ‘A’ game to the court since the very start. Moreover, the Warriors have already beaten the likes of Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers in the initial stages.

With Klay Thompson expected to join near the half of the season, it will be interesting to see if the Golden State Warriors are able to maintain their position on the top of the conference table. Unlike the previous season, hoop fans could see that the entire team has been performing, rather than depending upon marquee Stephen Curry. Is the early season luck or much-deserved momentum, time will tell as the Warriors will play Charlotte Hornets in their next encounter.

4. New York Knicks

The addition of Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier in the side has forced Tim Thibodeau’s team to play according to a certain style. However, so far in the 2021-22 season, Knicks have been seen in blistering form courtesy to that change. Not only have these two additions in the roster encouraged others to play with more freedom, but the likes of RJ Barrett and Derrick Rose have even improved in departments where they were lacking last season.

The New York Knicks hold a record of 5-2 and have played games in overtime as well as showcased dominant displays while attacking from the 3-point line. With that being said, it will be interesting to see whether Julius Randle’s team will be able to pose serious threats against star-studded teams? Or will be falter just like last time in the current season as well?

3. Utah Jazz

Many suggested that Utah Jazz’s top run in the 2020-21 season was a mere coincidence and that Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert led team will not be able to replicate their same form in the Western Conference this time around. Yet the Jazz were the last team to see their unbeaten streak broken in the current season. On one hand, where Jordan Clarkson might have shown concerning signs in the beginning, players like Bojan Bogdanovic, Mike Conley and Royce O’Neale have steadied the ship.

2. Miami Heat

After the short-handed Miami Heat side had evident concerning signs in the previous season, it seems like Kyle Lowry, PJ Tucker and Markieff Morris were the answers to all the problem in Erik Spoelstra’s team. The Heat are currently 5-1 and have beaten the likes of Milwaukee Bucks, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic in dominant fashion.

The Miami Heat are not only strong on the defensive end, but their pick-and-roll pays and shooting from the paint has drastically increased with their retained shooters (Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro) also performing consistently.

1. Chicago Bulls

Many picked Chicago Bulls as the favorite ‘underdogs’ in the NBA 2021-22 season. With a completely new set of players supporting Zach LaVine, it seems like the former Slam Dunk champion has been deprived of the limelight with such a roster. Be it Alex Caruso, Lonzo Ball or DeMar DeRozan, the Bulls seems to be the perfect spot for all the slip-ups to re-unite.

Furthermore, Bulls have comprehensively won all of their games. And their game against the Boston Celtics wherein, they made a 19-points comeback to win the game by 14 points and surely made all hoop fans know about the intention of Billy Donovan’s team in the NBA 2021-22 season.
