Venue: TD Garden, Boston

Preview:

With the series level at 1-1, the NBA finals will travel to Boston for the third game. The Golden State Warriors registered their first win of the series, thanks to another clinical performance by Steph Curry who scored 27 points with four assists and six rebounds. Whereas everything that worked for Boston in the first game as Jayson Tatum didn’t get a lot of support.

In Game one, three out of the five Boston starters scored 20 points but in this game other than Tatum’s 28, the starting five combined to score only 23 points. But in the playoffs, they are averaging 106.8 points on 45.3% shooting. They are hitting 37.3% from 3-point land and 80.9%  from the free-throw line. Defensively they are allowing 101.7 points on a shooting percentage of 43.4% from the field and 32.9% from beyond the arc and a defensive rating of 106.9.

Other than Curry, GSW had other scorers like Jordan Poole, Kevon Looney, and Andrew Wiggins who played their part. The Dubs are averaging 113.7 points while shooting 48.8% from the field, 38.3% from deep and 75.1%  from the free-throw line. Defensively they are allowing 108.5 points and a defensive rating of 106.9.

Team News:

Golden State Warriors: James Wiseman with an injured knee will miss the entire series and could be directly seen in the Summer League as reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic. While Andre Iguodala is listed as day to day.

Boston Celtics: No injuries are reported by the Boston Celtics.

Key Players:

Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson

Analysis:

Both the Boston Celtics and the Golden State Warriors have a similar skeleton with two prominent scorers with a vocal and defensive leader. For GSW the duo of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson have been consistent with support from players like Jordan Poole with Draymond Green being their defensive anchor.

After the first game, Tatum struggled offensively but made a significant jump. Other players like Derrick White and Al Horford scored crucial points in game one but struggled to have a similar impact on the second game.

Probable Starting 5s:

Golden State Warriors: Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Kevon Looney.
