NBA to award rings to summer league champions for first time

The championship rings will be awarded to the players with no regular season or playoffs experience for the first time in NBA.

For the first time ever, NBA has decided to award rings to the 2022 summer league champions. NBA 2K23 is taking place from July 7-17 at the Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas.

Apart from NBA champions Golden State Warriors, the league will award championship rings to the winner of NBA 2K23 summer league this year. The championship rings will be awarded to the players with no regular season or playoffs experience for the first time.

All 30 NBA teams are part in the 75-game event with each playing five games. After all the teams have played four games each, the two of the best teams will battle for the championship game on July 17. The remaining 28 teams will play consolation games that weekend. Last year, the Sacramento Kings claimed the NBA summer league crown by defeating Boston Celtics 100-67.

The No. 2 overall pick Chet Holmgren leads the Rookie of the Year list after his first game at the Salt Lake City. Paolo Banchero, Jabari Smith Jr., and Jaden Ivey are among the prime contenders to win NBA 2K23 Rookie of the year award.

The 77th NBA season is set to begin on October 18, 2022 and will culminate in April 2023. While the 2023 NBA All-Star Game is scheduled to be played at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City on February 19.
