While the New Zealand team will be with their regular experienced players, Australia has decided to give their fringe players a go, keeping an eye on the ICC T20 World Cup later this year in India. With an attack comprising of Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee in the attack, Australia’s batting-order with the likes of Darcy Short, Philippe, Maxwell and out-of-form skipper Finch, will have their task cut out.
Players to watch out for:
Australia have named a rather inexperienced side for this series. However, Aaron Finch has a very talented side to rely on, with Jhye Richardson and Josh Philippe expected to play a huge part in this series. With a host of seamers also looking to seal their place in the side, there’s a lot at stake in addition to the nail-biting series that awaits us.
The Kiwis might hold the advantage ahead of this series given the home conditions and superior depth in their armoury. But one cannot take the Kangaroos for granted regardless of the format or the occasion. With both sides looking to land the first blow in this series, a feisty start is ahead of us at the Hagley Oval.
