England are the World Champions in the shortest format of the game as they beat Pakistan in the final of the T20 World Cup 2022. The Jos Buttler-led team Pakistan by five wickets to lift their second T20 WC title. Ben Stokes scored an unbeaten 52* to power the team to the win. A 17-ball 26 from Buttler and a 13-ball 19* from Moeen Ali also helped England’s cause of defeating Pakistan.
Batting first, Pakistan fumbled and could only manage 137/8 in their 20 overs. Shan Masood (38 off 28), Babar Azam (32 off 28), and Shadab Khan (20 off 14) were the top performers for Pakistan with the bat. However, their bowlers put up a fight as they scalped wickets upfront. Shaheen Afridi dismissed Alex Hales while Haris Rauf got Phil Salt and Jos Buttler.
Shadab Khan dismissed Harry Brook to give Pakistan a chance. But Ben Stoke was determined to correct his wrongdoings from the 2016 T20 World Cup Final. The England all-rounder hit the winning runs and helped England end the long wait.
