As we get much closer to the start of IPL season, currently after Virat Kohli's 100th Test match (which will happen in Mohali tomorrow) the expectations and build up have been about the Indian Premier League 2022 edition. Here in this article, we will have a look at some of the interesting facts related to number 23 in IPL.

23 - Ruturaj Gaikwad who won the Orange cap in the previous IPL season smacked 23 sixes in IPL 2021.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf du Plessis's good form of run has been the key success for CSK to lift the IPL 2021 trophy. Now with Faf not playing for CSK it will be interesting to see who can partner the talented youngster like Ruturaj Gaikwad. Options like Devon Conway and Robbie Uthappa are expected to be in contention to open the batting with Gaikwad.

23 - Pat Cummins has taken 23 wickets for KKR in IPL overall.

Pat Cummins who went onto become the most expensive buy in IPL 2020 has been bought by KKR again for a price worth 7.25 Crore in IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Pat Cummins being a great T20 bowler can also play the role of smashing runs lower down the order like Deepak Chahar & Shardul Thakur. In IPL 2021, he smashed 66*(34) vs CSK [reached his fifty from just 23 balls in that game].

23 - Shreyas Iyer as skipper has won 23 matches in IPL for Delhi Capitals from 2018-2020.

Shreyas Iyer took captaincy of Delhi Capitals from Gautam Gambhir midway in IPL 2018 and also helped Delhi reach the Playoffs in IPL 2019> He also led Delhi to IPL final for the first time ever in 2020. Shreyas Iyer being appointed as skipper of KKR ahead of IPL 2022 is much similar to the story of Gautam Gambhir being appointed as KKR's skipper in 2011 and it will be interesting to see whether Iyer can lead his team successfully by winning IPL trophies for the Kolkata like Gambhir did.

23 - CSK captain MS Dhoni has 23 fifty-plus scores in IPL overall.

'Captain Cool' MS Dhoni's master mind has been the biggest reason for CSK franchise success over the years. Fans get to see Dhoni play only in the IPL and thus, CSK matches are expected to get much more attraction among audiences than other games in the upcoming IPL 2022 edition due to the brand value of what Dhoni has earned over the years among masses.
