Ahead of the first T20I between India and Bangladesh, a total of 2,500 policemen have been deployed in Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, India. Notably, after the completion of the two-match Test series between, India are set to host Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series, set to be played at three venues across the nation. The first match of the series will be played in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday, October 6. Bangladesh are trailing their multi-format tour 0-2.
Ahead of the first match, set to be played at the newly built Madhavrao Scindia International Stadium, heavy police force has been deployed in Gwalior. The security measures come in response to calls for shutdown on Sunday from organisations of a particular ideology which are protesting atrocities against one religion in Bangladesh since the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in August. After the calls, the hotels where both the teams are staying have been secured heavily and are under a strict security protocol.
Officers to be on patrol from 2pm: Gwalior Zone Inspector General of Police Arvind Saxena
Gwalior Zone Inspector of Police, Arvind Saxena interacted with the media and revealed how the deployed police force will function on the match day. He told PTI, "On match day, officers will be on patrol from 2 PM until all spectators have returned home after the game. Following the imposition of prohibitory orders, monitoring has been intensified, and we are keeping a close watch on social media as well."
Earlier, the district magistrate implemented prohibitory orders to ban protests and circulation of objectionable and sensitive material, especially on social media. The measures have been taken to maintain peace and ensure a safe gameplay. Notably, these orders will remain in effect till October 7.
