Australia Women have been absolutely unstoppable in the ODI format and they are registering wins at ease. They had whitewashed the New Zealand Women at home in their previous series against them and have now won the first ODI by 6 wickets. This was their 22nd consecutive win in the ODI format, most by any team.
Talking about the game, New Zealand batted first and could only manage 212 which was way less in front of the visiting ODI giants. Opener Lauren Down would be upset as her hard-fought 90 went in vain. Meanwhile, Megan Schutt and Nicola Carey skittled the Kiwis with their top-notch bowling. The duo took 7 wickets in total. While chasing, Alyssa Healy, Ashleigh Gardner and Ellyse Perry brought about half-centuries to steer the Aussies home in just 38.3 overs.
The White Ferns will have to bring a special performance in the second ODI to beat Australia as anything marginally short of exceptional, will be tackled by them.
New Zealand Women:
Sophie Devine missed out on the previous game as she was unwell. Lauren Down came in her absence and struck a fluent 90. If Devine is fit again, she will play ahead of Hayley Jensen.
There are no injury updates as of now. We will let you know if there are any. Elysse Perry and Alyssa Healy are the women to watch out for.
