In 2008, MS Dhoni was appointed the captain of Chennai Super Kings for the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Reaching 12 IPL playoffs with CSK
During his captaincy tenure with Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2023, MS Dhoni reached the IPL playoffs for a record 12 occasions in 14 seasons. From the playoffs stage, CSK also advanced to the final of the tournament 10 times under his leadership, which is yet another record in the IPL.
