The Namibian all-rounder, David Wiese, announced his retirement from international cricket after making his final appearance against England in the T20 World Cup 2024. The 39-year-old, who made his debut in international cricket with South Africa in 2016, arrived on Namibian shores in 2021, and since then, he has managed to change the sport for the better in the country.

During Namibia’s tour to Oman in the summer of 2024, in preparation for the T20 World Cup, David Wiese scored a fantastic fifty off 32 balls in the fourth T20I, which included one four and four maximums at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground, setting up a competitive total in excess of 160 runs on the board. The all-rounder also picked up three valuable wickets for Namibia in defence of the runs, ensuring that they went on to level the series at 2-2 with a comfortable win.
