India have assembled a strong squad for the T20 World Cup 2022,
with a good mix of experienced and young players. They are led by Rohit Sharma,
who has been exceptional with his leadership in the shortest format. The Men in
Blue are coming into this tournament with a T20I series win against Australia and
South Africa and are in the right spirits.
India are certainly one of the favourites for securing the
title, due to the presence of some players, who have been proven performers in
the shortest format. However, a few of them might be donning Blues for the last
time in the T20 World Cup and will look to deliver their best to bring glory to
the nation. Here are the players, who might be playing their last T20 World Cup and may not be part of the team when the squad is announced for the next edition of he marquee event.
1. Rohit Sharma
The Indian skipper has led from
the front with his tactics in crunch moments to secure 35 victories in 45 games
for the Indian team. With a winning rate of 77.77%, Rohit is the most successful
captain for the Indian team in the shortest format and is on track to eclipse
MS Dhoni in the number of wins (41) as well.
Rohit has been playing for the
Indian T20I team since the T20 World Cup 2007 and is one of the most experienced
players in the current squad. He is the top-scorer in the T20I format, with 3737
runs in 134 innings, with four centuries.
But, Rohit, at an age of 35 years
is certainly at the last stage of his career. The next edition of the World Cup
can witness a different captain, who will have the responsibility to take the team
forward in the near future. Furthermore, his participation in the showpiece
event as a player is doubtful as well.
