Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have delivered below par performances in the last two seasons of the Indian Premier League (IPL), mainly due to their bowling lineup never being completely settled. The lack of wickets at crucial stages from some of the experienced bowlers led to KKR struggling big time in the IPL recently.
With that, the KKR management brought about much-needed changes in their bowling department during the IPL 2024 auction, shelling out the highest sum of money for a player in the history of the tournament on Mitchell Starc. They brought in five bowlers in total in the squad, to bolster their bowling resources for the upcoming season of the IPL.

Kolkata Knight Riders signed Mitchell Starc for a whopping sum of ₹24.75 Crore, for his ability to swing the new ball and bowl lethal yorkers at the death, which can yield him a lot of wickets in the IPL 2024. Notably, the newly appointed mentor of the KKR, Gautam Gambhir, called Mitchell Starc an X-Factor for the team in the upcoming season of the IPL.
