5 days to go for IPL 2021 phase 2

With just 5 more days to go for the resumption of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League, let us have a look at some of the stats related to number 5 in the tournament.

5 - In overall, 5 IPL centuries have been recorded in UAE.

All five IPL centuries in UAE have been from the 2020 season and those 5 centuries are recorded by Shikhar Dhawan (2 centuries), KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal and Ben Stokes.

5 - Mumbai Indians have won 5 IPL titles so far.

Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma have been the most successful IPL franchise since 2013. They have won 5 trophies in the years 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020 respectively. Mumbai will be eyeing a hat-trick of IPL trophies in the year 2021, unprecedented feat in the history of the tournament.

5 - Virat Kohli has five IPL centuries to his name.

Virat Kohli smashed 4 centuries in IPL 2016 and 1 century in IPL 2019. Among Indian players, he has the most number of centuries in the tournament. It is worth noting that Kohli is also the leading run-scorer in IPL.

5 - Number of matches Kieron Pollard has captained in IPL is 5.

Pollard got an opportunity to captain a team for the first time when Rohit Sharma rested himself as a precautionary measure in Mumbai Indians' IPL 2019 game against Punjab Kings. Later in IPL 2020, Pollard led MI in 4 matches in UAE when Rohit was ruled out due to injury.
