For the upcoming Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, a 655-strong contingent from India will be vying to win the most medals in their illustrious history at the multi-sporting continental spectacle. The Asiad is set to officially begin on September 23, with 15 days of action across 40 different sporting disciplines, which will culminate with the closing ceremony on October 8.

There are a lot of top Indian athletes, the likes of Neeraj Chopra, PV Sindhu, Achanta Sharath Kamal, and Rohan Bopanna, who have soaked in the glory and the grandeur of the Asian Games in the past. But some others are yet to get their first chance at the Asiad, whether they are young or experienced, during their international careers.

1. Nikhat Zareen - Women’s Boxing
Nikhat Zareen has become the marquee athlete in the Indian and the world boxing scene in the last couple of seasons, after winning the IBA World Championship for the second time, while participating in the competition in 2023, in the 50kg category. Also, she has been a gold medal winner at the Commonwealth Games in 2022, which will give her all the confidence in the world to make a big mark on the Asian Games for the first time in her international career in Hangzhou.
