Gujarat Tians (GT) impressed everyone with their top-drawer performance in the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Hardik Pandya-led team not only made it to the final of the world’s biggest T20 league in their debut season but also lifted the coveted title. With GT scripting history, a lot of people were keen to know the reason behind such dominating show from GT, and that too in their first season.
Hardik Pandya talked about the efforts put in by the support staff and credited everyone for their performance in IPL 2022. Pandya was also all praise for Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra who became the first Indian Head coach to win an IPL title in the tournament history.
While talking to Ashish Nehra in the post-match video for IPL’s official website, Pandya revealed how Nehra’s process helped GT players believe in themselves. Hardik talked about how the GT head coach used to motivate players for extra practice sessions.
Many people don’t know this. Ashish Nehra would be the first person to go for the practice sessions. Normally, coaches end the practice session when everyone has batted or bowled, but Ashish Nehra is like ‘if 20 minutes are left, let’s go for one more session’. So, the way we played (in the tournament), a lot of credit goes to him. He worked with all his heart with every player and instilled such a level of confidence in everyone that they started believing in themselves,” said Pandya.
To these praiseworthy words from Pandya, Ashish Nehra could just say “There is nothing like that, all of this is a lie. Thank you very much”.

Notably, Gujarat Titans won 12 out of the 16 games they played in IPL 2022. They topped the league stage with 10 wins in fourteen games. Then they beat RR twice in the knockouts stage (Qualifier 1 and Final) to lift the elusive title.
