Suryakumar Yadav with his incredible 68 in 26 balls led the Indian team to a dominating 40-run victory over Hong Kong as they remain undefeated in the Asia Cup 2022. But the biggest worry for Indian fans even after two consecutive wins has been KL Rahul, who scored a sub-par 36 in 39 balls with two sixes.

But after the match, Su ryakumar Yadav backed KL Rahul as the press questioned him about the possibility of dropping the Lucknow Super Giants captain after a string of bad performances. The Men in Blue posted a massive total of 192 runs in the first innings, where the openers got off to a slow start as Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 21 in 13 balls and Rahul couldn’t find his rhythm as he was playing at a lowly strike rate of 92.31.

At the press conference after the match, the batter was questioned if he would be opening the innings in KL Rahul’s place. The 31-year-old while smiling, replied, “Aap bol rahe ho ke KL bhai ko nahi khilana chahiye? (So you mean to say that KL should be dropped?).”

Suryakumar then supported Rahul by addressing the fact that he is returning to the team after multiple injuries and will take time to come back to his regular big-hitting form. Yadav then also talked about how he is willing to bat at any position that suits the team.

“He (Rahul) is coming back from injury, he also needs some time. We have some time right now. As far as I am concerned, I have always said that I am very flexible to bat at any number. I have told the coach and captain that make me bat at any number, but just play me”, Yadav said.
