Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant looked miserable with his bat again in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Chasing a mammoth total of 216 runs, LSG lost their top-order batters Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran in 6.1 overs. Pooran again came heavily on the bowlers and smashed a superb 27 off 15. After the departure of both batters, skipper Rishabh Pant walked into the middle and his responsibility was to stand at the crease and capitalise on the start delivered by top-order batters.
The southpaw kicked off his innings confidently by hitting a four against Will Jacks, but in the next delivery England bowler got the southpaw caught at the hands of Karn Sharma and made a spectacular comeback. The 27-year-old went back to the dugout after scoring only four off two. Pant’s consistent batting failure has rankled netizen and an X user named Chintan didn’t hesitate to criticise the star LSG player heavily. Taking to X, he wrote, “Rishabh Pant, absolute garbage performance. If you have any shame, return the 27 crore. #MIvsLSG #MIvLSG.”
MI get fifth consecutive victory in IPL 2025
MI have dominated the game and registered a comfortable win against the visitors. After Pant’s dismissal, Ayush Badoni and David Miller stitched a 25-run stand off 18 balls. Badoni fell against Trent Boult in the 15th over and following the young batter, LSG’s batting collapsed.
Impact player, David Miller failed to counter the Jasprit Bumrah challenge in the 16th over. In the same over, Bumrah also outclassed Abdul Samad and Avesh Khan on back-to-back deliveries. LSG were bundled out at 161/10 in 20 overs, with Prince Yadav unbeaten at four off nine.
