The Indian Women's team kicked off their preparations for 2022 ODI World Cup with a thrilling 2-run win over South Africa in the warm-up contest on Sunday. Harmanpreet Kaur scored a fantastic century to guide her side to 244/9 in first innings. In reply, the Proteas finished on 242/7 in 50 overs as Rajeshwari Gayakwad's spell of 4/46 powered Women in Blue to an emphatic win.
However, the talking point of the day in India were BCCI, who did not provide even a single update about the match. With no live streaming, fans wanted to know about the score updates and there was also lot of confusion after ICC had shared wrong scores on their official website.
India won the match but BCCI lost respect
Amid the chaos, the netizens were looking for the board to give the correct update but unfortunately, their main twitter account along with separate BCCI Women's handle saw no activity at all. This approach by largest cricket board in the world caused fans to express their anger and fury on social media, where everyone blamed the governing body for giving no value to women's cricket.
While some pointed out that Sourav Ganguly led board was the only one who failed to cover the warm-up game on Sunday, others just termed it as absolutely shameful. There was also a fan who opined that it was a sad day for Indian cricket.
Check out the reactions:
The state of affairs were so sad that India's cricketer Yastika Bhatia had to share the screenshot of scorecard on social media, to end the confusion among fans. It was indeed baffling for fans to see how ignorant BCCI were on the day India began their campaign for World Cup.
The Women in Blue will play their next warm-up clash against West Indies on March 1 (3:30 AM onwards) and it will be intriguing to see if BCCI give any coverage to India's final practice match before the start of mega event.
