Former Pakistan cricketer Moin Khan made shocking revelations about their side’s cricket team ahead of the 2023 World Cup. Khan said that the Babar Azam-led side was scared to play against the Indian team in the Asia Cup 2023 and that the ongoing dressing room scenes are affecting the Men in Green. Khan’s comments came after Pakistan lost their first warm-up match against New Zealand on September 29, Friday.
After their defeat, Moin questioned the player’s attitude on the ground despite Azam’s assurance that there was a difference in opinion among them but no argument. The former wicketkeeper opined that the Pakistani players looked scattered and alleged that they were scared to play against the Men in Blue in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023.
Khan was in conversation with Pakistan Cricket when he made these comments. He told the Pakistani portal, “I saw this 100%. The players looked scattered, they were hesitant to even giving suggestions to Babar, whether it was Rizwan, Shadab, or Shaheen. It was visible that the team wasn't gelled up. There were no discussions, and even if there were suggestions and Babar was following them, they weren't working.”
The former Pakistani cricketer further commented, “Another thing was, against India, players are scared. And those who are scared that their suggestions won't work... that's fear. As a cricketer, you must play on your potential and contribute 100%. It's okay if your suggestions go wrong, it happens. But your body language shows whether you want to win, and that wasn't visible. And I'm pretty sure there were some issues in the dressing room. And I know, in a professional environment, there are differences but you have to end them to perform better. You have to move on.”
Notably, India and Pakistan will lock horns in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on October 14, 2023.
