Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane and his wife Radhika took to social media platform Instagram to announce that they are expecting their second child. The senior cricketer's wife shared a picture on social media and simply captioned it "October 2022." Notably, the couple had tied the knot in 2014 and were blessed with a daughter in October 2019.
It should be noted that Ajinkya Rahane was not selected for India's rescheduled fifth Test match against England. He is anyways out of consideration for a place in the national team in limited-overs cricket.
However, his omission from the England Test came as no surprise as it was already expected that he will take at least two months to recover from the injury he sustained while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. Ajinkya Rahane was forced to prematurely leave the franchise's bio-bubble after scan revealed that he had a tendon tear in his left hamstring.
The right-handed batter suffered the injury in a match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Pune on May 14. This injury may have made Rahane's path to a national comeback all the more challenging. This is because he was already struggling for runs and the turn of events has kept him away from any kind of competitive cricket.
Before the IPL, Rahane did not have the best of Ranji Trophy stints as he had a mixed kind of a season, scoring 185 runs in four innings. While he made one hundred and a half-century, he also registered two ducks. Even in the IPL, Ajinkya Rahane failed to make a big score as he accumulated 133 runs in 7 innings at an average of 19 with a strike rate of just over 100.
Although there was some doubt over the selection of Cheteshwar Pujara as well, he utilised his time to play County Cricket and scored loads of runs to get his place back in the team, something which the injury did not allow Rahane to do. It remains to be seen how Rahane revives his career from here.
