Team India Test mainstay Ajinkya Rahane and his wife Radhika announced the birth of their second child. Rahane posted a note on social media about the arrival of a baby boy. Rahane and Radhika got married in September 2014, and have a three-year-old daughter, Aarya, born in October 2019. 


In the note, Rahane wrote that both his wife and the child are completely safe and healthy and thanked all his friends, family and fans for their blessings. "This morning, Radhika and I welcomed our baby boy into the world. Both Radhika and the baby are doing well and are completely healthy. We'd like to thank you for all your love and blessings," Rahane tweeted.


Several members of the cricketing fraternity posted heartfelt messages for Ajinkya and his family. Indian batter Cheteshwar Pujara wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to the two of you. Love and blessings for the lil one.” Similarly, Former India wicketkeeper-batter Robin Uthappa posted, “Congratulations Aju. Wish you and Radhika all the best. Love to the lil champ.” The Kolkata Knight Riders' social media handles also posted a message saying, “Many congratulations! Getting the smallest size jersey ready with Rahane written on the back 🤗💜.”


On the cricketing front, Ajinkya Rahane had a successful Duleep Trophy campaign as he led the West Zone team to victory. Rahane’s side defeated South Zone by a massive margin of 294 runs in the finals. West Zone posted 270 in the first innings with crucial knocks by wicketkeeper Het Patel, who scored 98 in 189 balls. 


South Zone one-upped their opponents with a solid batting display scoring 327 runs on the back of Baba Indrajith’s 118 and important performances by Manish Pandey and Krishanppa Gowtham. In their second innings, West Zone was ready and retaliated with a massive total of 585 runs as opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a historic 265 in 323 balls. South Zone had to chase down 528 in the final innings but soon crumbled as bundled out 234.
