Veteran India leg-spinner Amit Mishra made a blunder on social media and was trolled brutally by the users. While it was Australia who ended their drought of a T20 World Cup and defeated New Zealand in the final to clinch their maiden title on Sunday, Mishra tagged the New Zealand cricket team to congratulate them on winning the tournament. By the time Mishra realized his error, his mistake had already gone viral.
Later the Delhi Capitals spinner did correct his mistake and deleted the tweet. "Congratulations team @BLACKCAPS on winning the World Cup Trophy. Great team effort. Very well played. #NZvsAUS #T20WorldCupFinal #AajTak #DelhiCapitals #BCCI T20WorldCup," his old post read. Meanwhile, in his corrected tweet he only replaced @BLACKCAPS with the correct team handle @CricketAus.

Talking about the match, Team Australia won a crucial toss and invited New Zealand to bat first. The Kiwis looked like they were stuck and did not get a move on until Kane Williamson decided himself that he was going to play the role of aggressor. The Black Caps skipper played a masterful innings and departed for 85 runs from 48 balls, taking New Zealand to a competitive score of 172/4.
Despite losing Aaron Finch early, half-centuries from David Warner and Player of the Match Mitchell Marsh ensured that the Aussies comfortably chased the total down with 8 wickets in hand and 7 balls remaining.
"I don't really have words, what an amazing six weeks with this group. Love them to death. World champs. The coaching staff came up to me in the West Indies and said you're going to bat three for this tournament, and I jumped at it," Marsh said after receiving his award at the post-match presentation.
"Have the staff to thank for backing me and getting me up the top there. Not a whole lot of thinking goes into it (hitting the first ball for six). Wanted to have a presence, be in the contest, go out there and play my game. It's unbelievable," he added.
The next T20 World Cup is less than a year away in Australia and the Kangaroos would hope to defend their crown in home conditions.
