India’s 15-year-old squash champion Anahat Singh won gold and bagged the title of Asian Junior Squash Individual Championships on August 20, Sunday. Singh defeated Hong Kong’s Ena Kwong 3-1 in the summit clash of the U-17 category to win the champion title. The Indian squash player made it to the finale by taking down Malaysia’s Doycee Lee and Whitney Isabelle Wilson in the quarterfinals and semifinals of the tournament.

Asia’s top-seeded player in the Girls U15 category, Singh, won her first medal in the event in 2022 in Thailand. Not only this, but the Delhi-based squash player also won a bronze in the U13 category at Macau in 2019. At the age of 14, Anahat represented India in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham and became the youngest Indian athlete to be a part of the esteemed tournament. 

Anahat came on the back of a win in the U-15 category of the British Junior Open Squash, where she defeated Egypt’s Sohaila Hazem in the summit clash. Meanwhile, the young star rose to prominence at the age of 11 when she won the U-11 title during the British Junior Open Squash, where she won the U-13 title in the Dutch Junior Open Squash.

Singh was a part of the 2021-2022 PSA World Tour as she made it to the quarterfinals of the Indian Open 2021.
