The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has served a show cause notice to the former captain Hanuma Vihari, who had pointed out political interferences in the state cricket, leading to his removal from the leadership role. After the conclusion of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 season, the 30-year-old also made a blunt remark that he didn’t want to play for Andhra again.

Hanuma Vihari received the show cause notice from ACA over email on March 25, wanting his response on comments made in regards to losing the Andhra captaincy and vowing to not play for the state again roughly a month ago. On the condition of anonymity, an ACA official told PTI about the matter and said, “Yes, we have served him a show-cause notice and we are awaiting his reply.”

“This is just to find what made him react the way he did last month. He has not reached out to us, so this is a chance for him to come out with his grievances. After all, we value Vihari and his contributions to the growth of state cricket as he has played a big part in Andhra going up in the ranks in domestic cricket,” the ACA official added.

ESPNcricinfo accessed the response from Hanuma Vihari to the show cause notice, wherein the Indian cricketer “put out the facts” about the “unfair” treatment of him by the ACA. He also asked the association for a no-objection certificate to play for another team in domestic cricket, awaiting a response for it.

Notably, Hanuma Vihari has pointed out that he had shouted at the 17th man, who was revealed to be KN Prudhviraj, during the first game of the Ranji Trophy 2023-24, who had complained about it to his politician dad. Following this, the Indian cricketer claimed that the influence of the said politician led to ACA removing him from Andhra captaincy.
