In a dramatic series of events, Ashwani Kumar ended up taking a stunning catch to dismiss Prabhsimran Singh after dropping him in the previous over in the ongoing IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians in Jaipur. As PBKS were chasing a target of 185 runs, Prabhsimran attempted to hit a big shot in the fourth over against Deepak Chahar but couldn’t time it well. Ashwani was standing at the midwicket short area waiting to complete the catch. However, the MI fielder failed to grab the ball and lost an easy chance to dismiss Prabhsimran.
In the next over, Prabhsimran Singh ended up getting an edge against Jasprit Bumrah on the second ball of the over. After that, Ashwani Kumar did no mistake in taking a diving catch at deep third and Prabhsimran’s struggling innings. The PBKS opener got out after scoring 13 runs off 16 balls hitting a four and a six as Bumrah gave MI the first breakthrough.
PBKS need to 185 runs to finish in top-two
Talking about the match, batting first, MI posted a total of 184 runs for the loss of seven wickets. The visitors got a good start as Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma added 45 runs for the first wicket in 5.1 overs. Rickelton got out after scoring 27(20) runs hitting five fours while Rohit Sharma scored 24(21) runs.
After that, Suryakumar Yadav and skipper Hardik Pandya put up a partnership of 44 runs for the fifth wicket. Pandya got out after scoring 26(15) runs while Suryakumar Yadav completed his fifty in 34 balls. The right-hander got out after scoring 57*(39) runs hitting six fours and two sixes. For PBKS, Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen and Vijay Kumar took two wickets each while Harpreet Brar put one in his bag. Now, PBKS need to chase 185 runs in their 20 overs to confirm their spot in the top two in the points table of IPL 2025.
