The Indian team comprising of Muhammed Ajmal, Vithya Ramraj, Rajesh Ramesh and Subha Venkatesh clocked 3:14.34 to finish at silver, being promoted after earlier bronze medal finish in the 4x400m mixed relay on October 2, Monday. The Indian quartet, who clinched a bronze with a timing of 3:15.34 saw an upgrade in medal after the Sri Lankan side was disqualified.

 The Sri Lanka quartet of Aruna Sharshana, Nadeesha, Kalinga Kumarage and Tharushi, who finished at second place were disqualified after the judges and referees saw a lane infringement. While it was Bahrain who finished at the top of the podium with a timing of 3:14.02s, while Kazakshtan took the bronze after the upgrade, registering their season best of timing of 3:24.85s.

Talking about the other Indian athletes, Amlan Borgohain finished sixth in men’s 200m final. On the other hand, Pavithra Vengatesh could only clear the 4.00m mark and finished sixth in pole vault on her Asian Games 2023 debut. Meanwhile, India registered a double podium in women’s 3000m Steeplechase as Parul Chaudhary clocked 9:27.63 to finish second with Priti Lamba settled for a bronze.
