The League of Legends team from India, which will compete at the 19th Asian Games in 2023, has left for Macau to compete against Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan in order to determine the seeding for the upcoming Asian Games. The team, captained by skipper Akshaj Shenoy, will face Kyrgyzstan on June 22 after facing Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan on June 21. The team also includes Samarth Arvind Trivedi, Mihir Ranjan, Aditya Selvaraj, and Aakash Shandilya.


At the Asian Games in 2023, where India will compete in four games, including League of Legends, FIFA Online 4, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, and DOTA 2, will see esports make its official medal event debut after serving as a showcase title in 2018. 


“The journey of the League of Legends team from where they started till now has been extremely commendable. We have witnessed the team’s growth and the players’ determination to secure their berth for the Asian Games and hence, are confident that they will showcase India’s Esports potential on the international stage. Everyone at ESFI wishes them the best of luck for the fixtures in Macau,” said Lokesh Suji, Director, ESFI & Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation (AESF).


The five-man squad for League of Legends is aiming to make its mark against the top teams in order to secure a favourable seeding for the Asian Games. They qualified for the competition through the National Esports Championships (NESC), which was organised by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI).
