
India could get its first few medals of the Asian Games 2023 on the first official day of the event in the rowing discipline. Balraj Panwar reached the Final A of the men's single sculls at the Asian Games here on Friday. The 24-year-old Panwar finished third with a time of 7:22:22 in the semifinal F A/B2 to reach the medal race.

Similarly, the Indian men's quadruple sculls team, men's lightweight double sculls category, men's double sculls, coxed eight, coxless pair, coxless four in men's section, and coxless four, coxed eight in women's team have all qualified for the finals in the rowing events.
The duo of Arjun Jat Lal and Arvind Singh reached Final A of Men's Lightweight Double Sculls. Whereas the Satnam Singh and Parminder Singh pair reached the final of Men's Double Sculls in Hangzhou, China.
Arjun Lal had a top-notch performance with Arvind Singh as they finished second in the men's lightweight double scull Heat 1 on Wednesday. This win ensured qualification for Repechage A and kept India in the medal hunt
Similarly, India's third final of the day was clinched courtesy of the men’s double sculls, where Satnam Singh and Parminder Singh won the repechage with a timing of 6:48.06 seconds.
Talking about possible medals for the Indian contingent, Balraj Panwar, Arjun Jat Lal and Arvind Singh pair, Satnam Singh and Parminder Singh duo could win medals for India on Day 1 of the Asian Game 2023.
India can also hope for medals in wushu as the Men’s Chenguang Final as well as Women’s Taijiquan Final will take place on September 24, Sunday, at 9:00 am. All eyes will be on Anjul Namdeo and Suraj Singh Mayanglambam for the men's final event, whereas Mepung Lamgu will be India's contender for the women's event.
Women 10m air rifle shooters Ashi Chouksey, Mehuli Ghosh, Ramita will also enter to bag a podium finish for the country in the continental showpiece. Other than that, Srihari Nataraj is also a strong contender to get India a good start in the tournament by finishing with a medal in Men’s 100m backstroke.
