After clinching three medals for the country on Day 1 of the Asian Games 2023, the Indian rowers continued to shine on Day 2 as well. The Indian men’s rowing team claimed two more bronze to begin Day 2 on the brighter side. The quartet of Jaswinder Singh, Bheem Singh, Punit Kumar and Ashish Goliyan secured the bronze in men’s fours event.
The Indian quartet, who were fourth in the final 500m of the 2000m race, with their brilliance finished for the bronze, clocking six minutes and 10.81 seconds. In the men’s fours event, while Uzbekistan clinched the gold with a timing of six minutes and 4.96 seconds, China finished second with a time of six minutes and 10.04 seconds.
On the other hand, the men’s quadruple sculls team consisting of Satnam Singh, Parminder Singh, Jakar Khan and Sukhmeet Singh also bagged a bronze with their best timing of six minutes and 8.61 minutes. While China grabbed the gold with a time of six minutes and 2.65 seconds, Uzbekistan secured the silver with a timing of six minutes and 4.64 minutes.
Earlier on Day 1, the Indian rowers created history as the men’s doubles sculls pair of Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh clinched a silver in Men’s Lightweight Doubles Sculls, clocking impressive six minutes and 28.18 seconds in Final A. The Indian Men’s Coxed Eight team also bagged a silver, while the Men’s Pair of Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram securing a bronze.
