India's veteran squash star Saurav Ghoshal settled for a silver in men's singles at the 19th Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the Republic of China. Ghoshal lost to his Malaysian counterpart NG Eain Yow 1-3 in the summit clash of the continental showpiece. iGhoshal secured his berth in the final of the tournament by beating Hong Kong's Henry Leung in a lop-sided semifinal clash.  With Ghoshal's silver, the Indian medal tally at the Asiad reached 85.

World number 19th ranked Ghoshal's finale was a nail-biting affair, where despite trailing by five points, the Indian made a remarkable comeback against the 18th-ranked Malaysian. Ghoshal, then, went on to win the first set of the game and gained an early 1-0 lead in the match. 

The second set saw the Malaysian making a comeback in the game and levelling his Indian counterpart 1-1. This was just the beginning of Yow's dominance in the match as he defeated Ghoshal 9-11. 

The Kolkata-born ultimately ended up losing the finale clash and couldn't fulfill his dream of winning the gold. He ended his Asian Games 2023 campaign with  losing the final 11-9, 9-11, 5-11, 7-11 in a gruelling 72-minute clash.
